Juneteenth

We are in a historic moment of transformation.

For too long Juneteenth has been a holiday celebrated mostly by the Black community. That time is over. The emancipation of Black people in the USA from slavery is a moment we all should celebrate, and from today forward, Sakura Bloom will commemorate Juneteenth as an official paid company holiday.

Juneteenth marks June 19th, 1865, when the remaining enslaved people of the confederacy in Texas were ordered free, a full two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation issued by President Abraham Lincoln on January 1, 1863. Over 150 years later, the freedom and justice promised to Black people in the USA is still blocked in troubling ways. There is much to learn and confront about the truth of race relations in the USA.

We're in this together to learn, to grow, and to change 🧡
